Situated right at the Village perimeter stands the glorious former silk warehouse that is now the Princess on Portland. Five floors of bedrooms made up of singles, twins, doubles and executive twins. As you'd expect from the Victorian architecture, the rooms are bright and spacious – no pokey little rooms to be found here! All rooms have en-suite facilities, ironing board, trouser press, telephone and tea & coffee making facilities. The beds are as large and comfortable as the rooms... Crisp bedding that just wants to eat you up!
One of the features that excited us was that it is one of the few hotels in Manchester offering free wireless internet access. For those of us with laptops travelling on business or pleasure, this is a huge plus. This feature, coupled with its ideal central location in the centre of the action makes it a very attractive option for those visiting the city for either work or play (or both!). The hotel is close to the shopping, business and entertainment districts of Manchester city centre.
You’ll find the staff at the hotel friendly and efficient – something that we believe is key to making your stay as enjoyable and stress free as possible.
On the ground floor you’ll find the modern contemporary bar area and the fantastic Brasserie on Portland serving coffee and breakfast from 7am and then brunch, lunch, tea and dinner throughout the day. Perfect if you want to meet up with friends or colleagues for a coffee in the morning before you attack your day. There is even a function room available for small meetings and private dining.
The Princess on Portland has discount deals with the local gym and entertainment venues and is often able to offer special rates on concerts at the MEN Arena and other local theatre shows.
You can get no better than the location of this wonderful hotel - right on the edge of the nocturnal delights of Canal Street, China Town, the theatre district and just a short stroll from Manchester's world-class shopping.
Free Food Fridays!
